We cannot understand God by feelings. We can only understand Him by what the Word says about Him. God is everything the Word says He is, so we need to get familiar with Him through the Word. Too many people try to get acquainted with God through their feelings. When they feel good, they think God has heard their prayers. When they don’t feel particularly good – I mean, when they feel God is unkind or unfair to them, they begin to rebel or murmur against God. They feel that God no longer answers their prayer; their faith is thus based on feelings.

First they begin to change churches and finally choose to seek alternatives outside the church. Such is the fate of those who base their faith on feelings. Real faith is based upon the Word of God. Real faith says, “If God’s Word says it is true, it is”, while feelings say, “Unless I see, I cannot believe. Unless I touch, I cannot believe”.  The Word of God says, ‘Blessed are you when you believe without seeing’. Believing God is believing His Word. If our faith is based upon feelings, we are just using natural human faith and we cannot get spiritual results with natural human faith. Anyone can believe what he can feel, hear or see. When it comes to spiritual things – we don’t walk by sight, we walk by faith (2 Corinthians 5:7).
