The greatest thing satan aims at in tempting God’s people is to overthrow their position before God. As children of God, we must beware of falling into temptation; however, if God allows it, we should not think it strange and doubt the Creator of Heaven and Earth (1 Corinthians 10:13).
The Spirit that descended on Jesus was to humble Him and at the same time to make Him strong. If you rely on your own strength and tempt the devil to tempt you, that is not humility. This is because the power given to us is not to be used at our own will but God’s will. If God were to leave you to your own strength while you are praying for a demon-possessed person, you yourself would end up needing deliverance!
We must be aware of satan’s tactics; He wants us to cut off our dependence on God. He wants you to stop your duty to God and begin to see Him in a bad light. He wants you to cut off your communion with God and do things by your own strength. We must be careful about falling into temptation but if God allows it, we should not think it strange and doubt the Creator of Heaven and Earth. Let us beware of spiritual pride, which has been the cause of much of the destruction we see in the world today.
Prayer: O Holy Spirit, help me to rely on you for everything, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
