Each time you remember the mistakes of the past, are you disturbed? Remember that we are living in a complex and contradictory world where perfection eludes us all. The fact that no one knows tomorrow makes mistakes an inevitable part of our daily life. We have made wrong decisions in our dealings with people, in our places of work and the kind of people we keep as friends. These wrong decisions sometimes make us bitter, depressed and hopeless. Cheer up! There is hope. Yesterday’s failure can become today’s success when God is involved.
Isaiah 43:18-19 says, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” This means that what people say or think about you does not matter. God can change anyone at anytime and anywhere, because He has a plan for us – a plan to reform you through that mistake and bring you to a new level in life. When you remove the guilt and shame of your past mistakes by focusing on Jesus Christ, you will see the new thing God is doing. You will not consider the past, because Jesus Christ has put an end to your past and given birth to your future.
PRAYER: Oh Holy Spirit, help me to see the new thing you are doing in my life, in Jesus’ name! Amen!
